Earth's Atmosphere

The atmosphere is a blanket of gases that surrounds Earth. It gives the Earth advantages that planets without and atmosphere do not receive. It causes meteoroids to not have as much of an impact on us as they do on the moon. When a meteoroid hits Earth's atmosphere it usually catches on fire and doesn't make contact with the ground. If the meteoroid did hit its markings would be weathered away. If a meteoroid was aimed at the moon it would impact directly and its markings would stay there forever because there is not weather. the atmosphere also provides our planet with the greenhouse effect which keeps our planet warm. The planets without an atmosphere have extreme temperatures because there is nothing there to hold them in. Our atmosphere also traps sunlight making it possible for our planet to hold liquid water unlike the other planets whose water either evaporates or freezes. On top of all that it blocks living things from direct UV rays which would cause severe sunburns on a planet without an atmosphere. As you can now see Earth's atmosphere does a lot for our planet. :)
